As a mom of two adult sons, Linda Shepard offers parents help in navigating the middle school and high school years.

Parents, do NOT assume your children will have your same values if you do not discuss various topics and current events with your children.  They will NOT learn from you by osmosis.

If YOU don't talk to them about various topics, they will develop a world view from other influences that bombard them from the time they awaken until they go to sleep (from social media, friends, teachers).  Parents, we need to guard ourselves and our children agaist blindly absorbing the opinions that others thrust upon us.

Too many Americans (young and old) are experiencing Critical Thinking:  The Other National Deficit!

Dinner tables used to be the place to discuss issues and values, but many busy families sadly have too few meals together.

Car rides are a fabulouse opportuntiy to engage children in discussion that will develop critical thinking skills/

Discuss the world around you:  your community, our nation, and the world.
